TNG is located on the top floor of Art Central, a visual art complex at the corner of Centre Street and 7th Avenue in downtown Calgary. TNG is within walking distance of other artist-run centres, public and commercial galleries, and studios. We are within a 4 hour drive of major art centres in Banff, Edmonton, Red Deer and Lethbridge.
In late 2008, TNG was kindly offered the use of a privately owned historic home known as John Snow Residence (JSR). TNG envisions using the JSR as a multi-purpose contemporary art space consisting of two components: a Resource Centre and an Artist-in-Residence (AIR) program. The gallery is currently engaged in a process to change the land use designation of the property so that TNG can operate within it. To date, TNG has received very positive feedback from the community association, The City of Calgary, urban and heritage planners, and members of the arts community. The formal application has been submitted and the fee has been paid. From December 1 to 16, a sign was displayed on the property to inform neighbours of the proposed changes, and to give them an opportunity to voice concerns.
