Facility Rental

The John Snow House (JSH) is an intimate, comfortable, and uniquely interesting space that can hold a maximum of 40 people (standing) for a variety of events. It is most suitably equipped for small-scale happenings such as talks, launches, screenings, readings, critiques, workshops, meetings, and workgroups.

The revenue we generate is invested in our services to the community and the delivery of our projects: by choosing our venue you will be supporting the sustainability of The New Gallery and its programs within the John Snow House.

Features include two bathrooms on the second level, a well-equipped kitchen, a large studio space, and a cement patio in the backyard. The house is not wheelchair accessible, nor is it well suited for people with limited mobility. Go here for more images of the John Snow House.

Monday through Friday until 10:00 pm
Saturday and Sunday 8:00 am to 10:00 pm

Rates (per event)

$50 for one morning, afternoon or evening, Monday through Sunday
$125 for one full day, Saturday or Sunday
$200 for one full weekend, Saturday and Sunday
Discounts may be available if you wish to rent the space for consecutive evenings.

We would like JSH to be as accessible to the community as possible. Please contact us if the fees are a barrier for you. Operational funds for JSH are derived in part through bingo fundraisers requiring volunteers for a number of positions at various times throughout the year. We are willing to exchange volunteer hours for use of the space at a rate of $15/hour per volunteer prior to your event. We also accept 50% Calgary Dollars.

A cash only damage deposit of $200 is required to use the space, returned to you upon key return.

Application

Non-profit community groups, for-profit groups, artist collectives, and individuals are welcome to apply to use the space for non-commercial events. All renters must be members of TNG. Yearly TNG Memberships are $10.

JSH is pleased to accept reservations up to one year in advance of your event. JSH cannot be booked less than two weeks prior to a proposed event.
