Jon Langford : Old Devils

While best known for his ongoing role in the Mekons - the indefatigable 30-year old+ punk rock band that originated at art school in Leeds, UK - at age 54, Jon Langford remains a dedicated studio artist as well as a professional musician. Langford’s unique visual style is somewhat familiar to Calgarians already, as it was central to the print promotional campaigns of both the 2009 and 2010 Calgary Folk Music Festivals. Opportunities to experience his work directly are relatively rare however; his art is much more widely known in reproduction, through the album covers Langford has done for his supplementary musical projects, such as the Waco Brothers, Pine Valley Cosmonauts and Skull Orchard, as well as for numerous other indie bands and worthy projects.
