CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS / ARTIST BOOKS
Deadline: August 22, 2017
The New Gallery (TNG) is an artist-run centre located in Calgary, Alberta on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot and the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta. The City of Calgary is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III. TNG is mandated to support socially relevant and politically informed contemporary art practices, and does this through a broad range of activities, including exhibitions, publications, residencies, and community collaborations. This October, TNG will partake in the 2017 Vancouver Art Book Fair (VABF), hosted by Project Space at the Vancouver Art Gallery from October 13 to 15, 2017. TNG’s booth will include a variety of printed matter published by TNG Press throughout the organization’s history.
TNG will also be using this opportunity to showcase the excellent work being done by Alberta-based artists working in the medium of artist books and publishing. Artists can apply with a selection of their work to be sold through TNG’s booth. Artists are responsible for determining the retail price of their work, and for delivering any selected materials to TNG no later than Tuesday, September 26, 2017. TNG will be responsible for the transportation of all materials to and from the event, the booth set-up, sales, and marketing of the materials. Thanks to a generous project grant from Calgary Arts Development, there will be no consignment fees, and all artists will receive their full sales from the event. Any remaining stock will be returned and sales will be paid out to participating artists by the end of October 2017.
